• COP30: A Mixed Outcome

The COP30 climate summit in Belém, Brazil has concluded with real progress but insufficient action given the climate emergency.

Positive outcomes: historic agreement on Amazon protection with $30 billion committed, and the creation of a ‘climate debt’ mechanism for vulnerable nations.

      The Cloudy Picture

Despite these advances, commitments on fossil fuel reduction remain too timid. The 1.5°C target seems to be slipping away, with only 45% of necessary emission reductions by 2030 currently pledged.

      Our Role Remains Critical

In the face of diplomatic delays, decentralized climate action becomes more important than ever. Planting trees, restoring ecosystems, and offsetting our emissions remain concrete and immediate levers for change.
